Is your engagement actually good?

Followers + average interactions = your rate, positioned against accounts your size on your network. A straight verdict in 10 seconds, without connecting your account.

TL;DR — The engagement rate formula: (likes + comments + shares) ÷ followers × 100, averaged over your recent posts. 2026 reference points for accounts under 10,000 followers: ~2.5% on Instagram, ~6% on TikTok, ~3% on LinkedIn, ~0.9% on X, ~1% on Facebook — and the rate mechanically drops as your audience grows.

A follower count flatters; an engagement rate tells the truth: does your audience react, or just scroll past? This calculator applies the standard formula and positions you against public benchmarks for your account size — because 2% means something completely different at 800 followers versus 80,000.

How it works

Three numbers, no account to connect.

1. Pick your network

Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, X or Facebook — the reference points differ wildly.

2. Enter your averages

Followers, average likes and comments from your last 5-10 posts (shares if you have them).

3. Read the verdict

Your rate, your position on the gauge against the median for your account size, and the next level to aim for.

How to read your result

The reference points, no sugarcoating.

The standard formula

(Likes + comments + shares) ÷ followers × 100. It's the formula studies use most — others exist (by reach, by views), but this one lets you compare against benchmarks.

Size changes everything

The bigger the audience, the lower the rate — mechanically. A 1.5% at 100k followers beats a 3% at 500. The gauge always compares against YOUR account size.

Comments weigh more

Every 2026 algorithm values comments above likes. Two accounts with the same rate aren't equally healthy if one only collects likes.

The trend beats the number

A single rate is a snapshot; what matters is the curve. Measure over your last 10 posts, then re-measure monthly — the direction tells you if your strategy works.

Frequently asked questions

What is a good engagement rate?

It depends on the network AND your size. Under 10,000 followers: about 2.5% on Instagram, 6% on TikTok, 3% on LinkedIn, 0.9% on X and 1% on Facebook sit at the median. Double those values is excellent. Above 100,000 followers, divide these references by two or three.

Why does my rate drop as my followers grow?

It's mechanical and universal: the larger the audience, the less homogeneous it is, and the less algorithms show each post to everyone. That's why the calculator compares against your size bracket, not a global average.

How many posts should I average?

Your last 5 to 10 organic posts (excluding sponsored posts and any exceptional viral that skews everything). The broader the base, the more reliable the rate.

Where do the benchmarks come from?

Public 2025-2026 studies (RivalIQ, Socialinsider, Metricool), smoothed per network and follower bracket. They're honest orders of magnitude, not official thresholds — no platform publishes its own.

How do I improve my rate?

The three levers that work: consistency (posting 3+ times a week), formats that trigger responses (questions, strong opinions, carousels), and replying to comments within the first hour. Consistency is lever #1 — and that's exactly what a scheduler automates.

Are my numbers sent anywhere?

No. The calculation happens entirely in your browser: nothing is sent, nothing is stored, no account connection.
