On X, every link counts as 23 characters (t.co), whatever its real length.

Telegram: 4,096 characters for text-only, but just 1,024 as a media caption.

TL;DR — 2026 character limits: X 280, Bluesky 300, Threads and Mastodon 500, Pinterest 500, Google Business 1,500, Instagram 2,200, LinkedIn 3,000, TikTok 4,000, Telegram 4,096, YouTube 5,000, Facebook 63,206. The real trap is the "see more" cut-off: LinkedIn truncates around 210 characters, Instagram around 125 — what your audience sees without clicking is far shorter than the limit.

Every network has two thresholds: the hard limit (beyond it, your post is rejected or chopped) and the "see more" cut-off (beyond it, your hook hides behind a click). The checker verifies both, across 12 networks, as you type — and shows you exactly where your text gets cut.

Frequently asked questions

How does X count characters?

X caps posts at 280 characters, but every URL counts as 23 characters regardless of its actual length (t.co shortener). The checker applies that rule. Also worth knowing: CJK characters and some emojis count double on X.

What is the "see more" cut-off?

The length beyond which the feed truncates your text behind a "see more" link. On LinkedIn it's around 210 characters, on Instagram around 125: everything after it is only seen by people who click. Your hook must land before the cut.

Why does Telegram show 4,096 characters?

That's the limit for a text-only message. With attached media (photo, video), the caption is capped at 1,024 characters — trim accordingly if your post has a visual.

Do the limits change?

Yes, regularly: TikTok went from 2,200 to 4,000 characters, and X reserves long posts for Premium subscribers. This page is kept up to date — the last-updated date is shown at the top.

Do I really need to adapt my text per network?

Yes: a 1,500-character LinkedIn post pasted as-is gets rejected by X, chopped on Pinterest and truncated everywhere else. Best practice: one idea, one version per network. That's exactly what Purrplan's multi-network editor does.

Is my text sent anywhere?

No. The checker runs entirely in your browser: nothing is sent, nothing is stored, no sign-up.
